Wow! We have been working hard to get ready for this. Double, triple practice's since Christmas! We're excited to play as, one, it's been far too long! And, two, we have some new material that we think will be fun for everyone. “The Wellerman (Sea Shanty)” is a new song for us. Our version most closely resembles the version done by Nathan Evans. Nathan's version is pretty stripped down so naturally we “Fire on McGinnis-ized” it a bit ( we can't help ourselves!).
We added another Proclaimers song called “Over and Done WIth.” Another fun song. We play the version that most closely resembles the spirited version in the 2013 British rom-com movie called “Sunshine on Leith.” Martha just started playing it at practice on afternoon. Naturally Mark and Ceann thought she was playing “The Passenger” by Iggy Pop. The two have very similar qualities…Hmmm..
Recently the band saw “Bob Marley One Love" movie. Inpired, as always, we decided to mix in “3 Little Birds” at the end of another popular song. Where did we add “Three Little Birds?” Come to the show and find out!
Did we mention Ed Sheeran? Wow, Ed Sheeran. A world famous singer songwriter performer writes this funny little song called “Nancy Mulligan.” It's a new Irish classic! It took us a while to nail this one down. It's one of those songs that sounds easy to play but it's not. It has unexpected chords and stops, random “heys” and a guitar riff that sounds right, even when you play it wrong! We are proud of what we have done with it and hope you enjoy it too!
We plan to start around 8:30 pm. See you at the Red Dog Saloon - FOM
