Folk Fest Week - Red Dog Saloon - April 13th - 9 pm

Join us at the Red Dog Saloon on April 13th 2023.

The Folk Festival is the biggest week of music in Juneau, Alaska but getting up on stage for the “15 minutes of fame” at the fest is kind of difficult for a 5 piece Celtic rock band.  We were excited when Eric Forst offered us one of the Folk Fest nights at the Red Dog Saloon. For now, we know that we go on around 9 pm on April 13th. Check back here for more details.

Scottish Highland Games - June 25th and 26th - Join Us!

Fire on McGinnis is pleased to announce out first live shows since the beginning of the pandemic! Jeni McDaniel from the Alaskan Scottish Club in Anchorage contacted us to perform  June 25th and 26th at the annual Scottish Highland Games. We are super excited of course and the band has begun holding regular rehearsals in anticipation. We have been working on probably the most complex song FOM has ever tried to play. It's called "Mrs Elliot" a cover originally performed by Enter the Haggis. It's almost 4 songs inside one song with fun bagpipe solos. We have a new peppy song by Ed Sheeran and a 3rd song by a band called "The Darlingside." Their version is great but we thought we could do one better by adding real guitar distortion and original bagpipe solos!

Mike is so excited he bought a digital bagpipe chanter so he can practice his technique at home but rest assured, his wonderful highland bagpipes will be on stage!

Again we are super excited about re-surfacing and we are honored to play such a prestigious event! -FOM

Our sets will be short but we will have 4, possibly 5 sets at the games.

More about the Scottish Highland Games

When: Saturday, June 25th and 26th

Where: Alaska State Fairgrounds

Featuring: All things Scottish. Bagpipes, Heavy Athletics, Celtic Dance, Drumming, Kilted Mile, Scotch Tasting, Tea Ten, Salmon Tossing, Highland Coo. Tug-of-War, Vendor, Historical Demonstrations, Musical Guest, Axe Throwing, Children's events and more!

Free "Live Rehearsal" at Northern Light United Church

We do this once in a while, set up at NLUC and play free for anyone that wants to come! We call it a "live rehearsal" so, there may be boo-boo's (things only musicians notice anyway!), stops, re-starts and more chit chat with the audience and banter between band members than a normal show. It's fun and it's free. Come join us!

Fire on McGinnis - Hot Cider - Live Rehearsal Show

We haven't played publicly very much in 2017 and we know that a lot of our Juneau fans can't stay up late or want to go to a bar to see us.
On December 16th we are going to do a "live rehearsal" at the Northern Lights United Church, 400 W. 11th Street. At approximately 7 pm. It's a free show and hot apple cider will be served!
A live rehearsal really just means we are inviting people to a practice. It's casual with banter from the band and the audience should feel free to interact with us. We have some new songs we have been rehearsing but have never played publicly so this is your chance to see what we have been up to! We will have a sound system but no sound engineer. We did this once before and it was a lot of fun. Come join us! -FOM

Rock Around the Block Party - June 23rd

As part of JAHC's "Rock Around the Block Party" series, we will be performing at the Pivot Plaza from 5-7 on June 23rd. What is the Pivot Plaza? It's the name for the plaza in front of the new State Libraries, Archives and Museums (SLAM!) building. Located downtown, 395 Whitter St near the KTOO building.
In case of rain the show will be moved to the JACC building. There will also be a public market going on so come on down! -FOM

St. Patrick's Day Party!

We had a lot of offers to play again this year ( and in fact, the offers are still coming in! ) but really the best one for us is to play McGivney's Sports Bar & Grill at their valley location. We like it there and they treat us good. We start at around 9 pm and go as long as there's people there to listen! Food, yes. Green beers, of course!
We like to thank the owners of McGivney's for having us and Marcie Endicott for helping us coordinate the event!
This just in: The City of Juneau Bagpipe band will be swinging through during the course of the evening as part of their annual "pub crawl." Expect them to show up 9:45 to 10:30 ish for some full on bagpiping! -FOM

Upcoming Event

We want to thank all the good folks that came down to McGivney's for the St. Patrick's Day show - what a hoot! We will go down in history as downtown McGivney's first live band! We like to thank Marcie Endicott for organizing the event and Derek Lail for running the sound board (not an easy task for a band like this!). We also like to thank the City of Juneau Pipe band for "crawling" through and making the night even more special.

We have an event coming up that might appeal to folks that are not comfortable with the bar scene. We were asked to play a fundraiser at Aldersgate Methodist church the evening of April 15th. This will be a simple affair with a bake sale and a silent auction. We plan to weave in between announcements and other special events, playing roughly two sets. Doors open at 6:30. The event starts at 7:00. All proceeds from the event go to the Cooperative Youth Group's mission to Costa Rica It would be great to see some of our fans there! -FOM
